Believe it or not Spring has arrived…although waking up to snow the other morning had me perplexed.
Nonetheless, the warm sun melted that snow in no time and spring is definitely in the air; the grass is growing, daffodils are popping up, buds are appearing on the trees, the goats bellies are growing here on the farm and there is a little bird making a nest outside my window as I type.
Here are 5 spring things to do in Abbotsford this April:
A BLOOMING GOOD TIME
The blooms are coming, the blooms are coming. We are on the cusp of another highly anticipated tulip season as Abbotsford’s Tulip Festival: Bloom, is set for a soft opening on April 9th. Bloom is part of the Fraser Valley Tulip Trail with lots of fields of flowers to visit in the local area.
But tulips aren’t the only flowers blooming. Visit Bradner area to behold all the daffodil fields and take in the 90th annual Bradner Flower show on April 13th to 15th at the Bradner Hall.
ON WITH THE SHOW
Speaking of shows…there are several shows and productions that might we worth your time. Cirque-du-Soleil’s ice show CRYSTAL is sure to dazzle at the Abbotsford Center April 11-15.
There is also Gallery 7’s production of The Miracle Worker which is the inspirational story of Helen Keller and her teacher Anne Sullivan.
As well there is Abbotsford Children’s Theater production of The Secret Garden.
TAKE A HIKE
Head outside and enjoy the outdoors. The snow has melted and local parks and trails come alive this time of year and there are so many to choose from.
April 22nd also happens to be Earth Day so why not get out into nature and head down to Mill Lake Park to enjoy the Earth Day activities.
FUN ON THE FARM
Spring is always an exciting time on the farm as things come to life here at EcoDairy and we await the arrival of baby goats and little lambs later this month. Why not stop by EcoDairy for a visit to see our spring changes first hand or visit one of the other farms features in Abbotsford’s Circle Farm Tour.
Before heading out for adventure why not pick up a good…I mean…A GREAT cup of coffee at one of favorite coffee shops in Historic Downtown Abbotsford. Old Hand Coffee definitely knows their stuff when it comes to coffee, and we have heard nothing but great things about the drink menu at The Polly Fox. But, if coffee is not your thing or you want a healthy start to your day we highly recommend a cold pressed juice from Habit Project Yum!
