International Women’s Day

Today is International Women’s Day.

International Women's Day was adopted in 1975 by the United Nations and is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. I think we can all agree as we look at the history of our own country or even consider other countries that there is indeed reason to celebrate.  We’ve come a long way baby.

But let’s keep it local and celebrate just a handful of females we encounter each day here at EcoDairy.

We celebrate VANESSA!

She is that bright sunny smile that greets you when you walk in our doors, she’s the cheerful tour guide who adores the cows, the creative camp leader and master organizer of so much that happens around here.  Yay Vanessa!

We celebrate the FARM HANDS

We are thankful for the women farm hands who collect eggs, muck stalls, feed the calves, walk and groom the pony and the donkey, sheer the sheep, and formulate the feed.  This farm is running tickety-boo thanks to their hard work and expertise.  Yay to the Farmers!

We celebrate the girls who come on the farm and are not afraid to get their hands dirty as they push up feed, let a cow lick them or take a nibble on their dresses, who run in with the goats and feed the pigs and let the calves suck their fingers. Yay to the fearless young females!

Her t-shirt says it best ‘I CAN CHANGE THE WORLD’.
