MINAMALIZING GIFT GIVING

MINAMALIZING GIFT GIVING

Ahhh Christmas

That time of year where we give and receive gifts.

But sometimes the gift giving can get out of hand.  It can get expensive, excessive and result in too much stuff (dare I say junk).

Here are a few ideas on how to simplify gift giving.

PRE-CHRISTMAS PURGE

We’ve heard of Spring Cleaning but I think it’s a great idea to purge the toys, shoes, jackets and closets at this time of year.  Get rid of the items that you’ve grown out of, never wear, don’t use or don’t play with.  One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.  Give to goodwill, it will feel good to declutter your home and it will feel good to give.

LIMIT THE # OF GIFTS

I don’t think I’m alone when I say we have more than we need and there is a lot of ‘stuff’ in our house.  Christmas gifts means more ‘stuff’.

I heard someone mention a little Christmas gift antidote the other day and I love it.

How cute is that, 4 gifts and most of them necessary or good for you.  Good news is, EcoDairy has a bunch of fun books in store for everyone; baby board books, kids books, read-alouds and books for adults too.  Come in store to check out the selection.

Another way to limit gifts is to practice Wise Men Gift Giving.  Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus, incidentally, 3 Wise Men traveled from afar to give gifts to Jesus.  So if 3 gifts is good enough for baby Jesus than 3 gifts is good enough for us too.

GIVE THE GIFT OF EXPERIENCES

Why not give a gift that keeps on giving; experiences.  Maybe it’s the gift of time spent together as a family experiencing something new, or maybe it’s a family favorite game, activity or outing or maybe purchasing a class, set of cooking classes, craft workshop, fishing excursion, spa treatment, pedicure or what have you that interests the recipient.

Speaking of experiences, this is probably a good time to mention that now until December 22 we have our BOGO Membership event.  Buy 1 EcoDairy membership and get another one for a fraction of the cost.  And stay tuned to workshops being offered at EcoDairy in 2019.
