October in Abbotsford

October in Abbotsford

I kind of love October in Abbotsford.

It’s harvest season, the weather is still cooperating … at least some of the time … and there is so much going on for families to enjoy.

It’s easy to fill your October calendar with visits to the numerous local farms, orchards, mazes and patches and the food collectives and farmers markets are bursting with fresh local produce and wares … and then at the end of the month there are so many Halloween festivities to enjoy.

Here are a few October activities we hope to enjoy this October.

Apple Picking

Two of our favorite Apple Orchards in Abbotsford include Willow View Farms and the Apple Barn at Taves Family Farm… trees are brimming and the store shelves are stocked with anything to do with apples. Lepp Farm Market is also hosting Applelooza October 5th and 6th which is sure to be fun.  And think of all the things you can make with all those apples!

Pumpkin Patches

Picture perfect Pumpkin Patches are not hard to find in Abbotsford.  The apple orchards mentioned above (Willow View and Taves Family Farm) have fantastic pumpkin patches with fields of orange pumpkins and festive fall displays, as does Maan Farms Fall Festival.

Trick or Treat

Before you know it, it is October 31st, Halloween 😊 Put on a costume and head on out to explore some festivities.

There are a few fun things happening including EcoDairy Moo or Boo Fall Carnival (10:00am to 5:00pm) and Historic Downtown Abbotsford's Trick or Treating as well as the Valley Farm & Food Collective.
